Being in front of a camera
As a photographer, I understand that being in front of the camera can feel a bit nerve-wracking and uncomfortable sometimes. However, your engagement shoot is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your love, and it's important to feel relaxed so you can be yourselves. Here's a few tips to make sure you're both able to embrace the fun, and stay in the moment during your engagement shoot.
Trust Me:
Professional Expertise: I’m very experienced in bringing out the best you both. End of the day I want to make sure you both are able to look back on your photos and see the love and joy which you both share!
Communication: Before the shoot don’t hesitate to discuss your vision with me, if you have any preferences and/ or concerns just let me know. Knowing these things allow me to make sure I’m able to boost your confidence and give you the photos you want!
Posing Guidance: I will provide gentle prompts during your engagement shoot on how to pose and where to look. Trust the guidance, and don't be afraid to ask questions or share your ideas. If there’s anything that doesn’t look and feel right, trust me I’ll guide you both to insure it does :)
Be yourselves:
Authenticity is the key to capturing your unique love story!
Here's how to be yourselves in front of the camera:
Dressing Comfortably: Choosing outfits that reflect your personal style is a great factor to make sure you’re both feeling comfortable. When you feel good in what you're wearing, it shows in your photos!
Natural Expressions: Embrace your natural expressions and emotions. Laugh, smile, and interact with each other just as you do in your everyday life. I’ve got little prompts and games which can really help ease you both into this.
Connection: Focus on your connection with each other rather than the camera. Engage in conversations, hold hands, and steal glances to create genuine moments. With all these little things I’ll guide you both through if they don’t feel natural at first.
Know It's Going to Be a Fun
Experience:
Your engagement shoot is not only just a photoshoot; it's a celebration of the love you both share for one another.
Here's a few ways to make it enjoyable:
Think of It as a Date: Treat your engagement shoot like a fun date. When you’re relaxed and happy they always make for the best photos!
Incorporate Activities: Consider incorporating activities you enjoy into the shoot, such as a picnic, a stroll through the park, or a visit to your favourite coffee shop. This can help you relax and enjoy the moment as well as make your shoot even more personal!
Laugh and Have Fun: Laughter is a great way to feel at ease. Don't be afraid to share jokes, tickle each other, or simply enjoy each other's company. Just lean into one another and your relationship.
Be in the moment:
The camera captures more than just images; it captures the emotions and memories which has built your relationship :)
Here's how to embrace the moment:
Breathe: Take deep breaths to calm nerves and stay present. Focus on your each other, the scenery, and the experience. You’ll look back on and wish you did!
Forget About Perfection: Let go of the idea of perfection. Imperfections and quirks are what make you unique and beautiful. These are the photos you’ll love the most too!
Your Connection: Your engagement shoot is about capturing your love, so focus and lean in on the emotions and connection between you two rather than worrying about how you look, I’ll worry about that!
Remember that your engagement shoot is a celebration of your love story. By trusting in me, your photographer, being yourselves, embracing the fun, and staying in the moment, I know you'll not only have beautiful photos but also have a memorable experience that you both can look back on and simile. So relax, have fun, and let the love shine through!
